We lead our lives chasing time, trying to accomplish too much in too little time! As a result, we hardly have time for ourselves! We put things like our self-care and self-management lowest in our priority.

Isn’t it paradoxical that neglecting the self is one of the major causes of all our problems?

When you take care of your physical and emotional well-being, you are naturally more fit and capable of taking on responsibilities.

If you have taken care of your body, you will not get tired and will be able to cope with the day better. When you take care of your emotional and mental well-being, you will find it easier to accomplish tough tasks and even take care of others around you.

Many people believe that they should take care of others and taking care of themselves is selfish. But the truth is far from it!

This is because when you have taken care of yourself, you are better equipped to take care of others. If you have not learned to manage yourself, you will be the person in need of care and attention. You will want it from others and will be dependent on others.

This happens to many people! And, you can see it expressed as,

“No one understands what I go through”

“I do so much but no one cares”

“I do everything for everyone but no one does anything for me!”

“I care for everyone but no one cares about my feelings.”

The common thread through all these statements is the expectation that others will take care of you and then you will feel good and comforted. Simply put, even though you are doing so much for others, you would like them to take care of you! There is nothing wrong with this expectation.
